SUMMER
ASSOCIATE PROJECTS
Recent summer associates have worked on varied and interesting projects,
including drafting documents for software licensing, drafting pleadings
for environmental litigation, drafting closing documents for a commercial
real estate transaction and assisting with the closing and participating
in strategy meetings and negotiations on a multi-million-dollar
acquisition of a business.
Our
summer associates projects are not simply “busy work”
created to evaluate the individual, but rather contribute directly
to some case or project. Projects are assigned to summer associates
by a partner from the Recruiting Committee who acts as the Summer
Program Director. The director receives project requests directly
from attorneys throughout the firm and assigns projects to summer
associates, keeping in mind each summer associate's workload and
practice area interests. The director also monitors the summer associates'
workload to ensure that summer associates have the appropriate amount
of work for their schedules.
The
Recruiting Committee strives to provide timely and effective feedback
and evaluation for summer associates throughout the summer. The
attorneys assigning projects provide the summer associate with a
verbal evaluation of each project as it is completed. Assigning
attorneys complete written evaluations also. The Recruiting Committee
provides the summer associate with an interim review and an exit
review for more formal feedback.
