Richard L. Wasserman Honored with Exemplar of Justice Award at Maryland Legal Aid’s 26th Annual Equal Justice Awards Breakfast

On May 13, 2025, Maryland Legal Aid presented the prestigious Exemplar of Justice Award to attorney Richard L. Wasserman during its 26th Annual Equal Justice Awards Breakfast held at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to advancing equal access to justice for Marylanders in need.

Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Attorney Richard L. Wasserman of Willcox SavageMr. Wasserman has been an integral part of Maryland Legal Aid’s leadership for over two decades, serving on the Board of Directors since 2004 and as Treasurer since 2012. His financial stewardship and strategic guidance have been instrumental in supporting Maryland Legal Aid’s mission to provide free civil legal services to low-income and vulnerable populations across the state.

In his professional practice, Mr. Wasserman is Senior Counsel at Willcox Savage, where he focuses on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters. He has extensive experience representing clients in major business, commercial, and real estate-related bankruptcy matters, and has served as a Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Trustee, court-appointed Examiner, and mediator in complex bankruptcy proceedings.

The Equal Justice Awards Breakfast serves as a platform to recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations committed to promoting equal access to justice. Maryland Legal Aid, established in 1911, continues to advocate for equity and social justice through free civil legal services, community collaboration, and systemic change.
