Jacob C. DeRue is an associate attorney in Willcox Savage’s Commercial Litigation Section. He advises companies, business owners, entrepreneurs, management companies, and individuals in a wide range of commercial disputes involving business torts, breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims, partnership and ownership disputes, employment matters, and non-compete and restrictive covenant enforcement. Jacob litigates in Virginia state and federal courts, as well as the District of Columbia, and focuses on identifying efficient, strategic paths to resolution, including early dispositive motions where appropriate, to protect clients’ interests while minimizing risk, disruption, and litigation costs.
Jacob earned his J.D. from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, where he was a member of the Journal of Law, Economics & Policy. He served as Pro Bono Pledge Coordinator for the George Mason Pro Bono Society and held leadership roles in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society and the Scalia Law Trial Advocacy Association. He received his undergraduate degree, in Political Science, Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Sociology, summa cum laude, from Thiel College and interned for the Honorable Charles J. Siragusa of the United States District Court for the Western District of New York during his undergraduate studies.
