Defending Asbestos and Toxic Materials Product Liability Claims

Lucy is a member of Willcox Savage’s Asbestos Defense Litigation, Products Liability, and Transportation Sections. Her practice centers on the defense of complex products liability matters, including asbestos and toxic-tort claims, in state and federal courts across the country. She coordinates national medical and expert strategy for multiple cosmetic talc defendants and prepares epidemiology, pulmonology, pathology, and industrial hygiene experts for deposition and trial.

Notable Work & Achievements

National Talc and Asbestos Defense Strategy

Lucy manages and coordinates the medical and scientific defense nationally for multiple cosmetic talc defendants, leading expert retentions and aligning case strategy across jurisdictions. She evaluates plaintiffs’ medical issues in depth, including diagnostic and genetic considerations, and prepares experts for depositions and trial so that complex causation evidence is presented with clarity. She also assists multiple companies in developing experts in multiple fields including epidemiology, pulmonology, pathology, and industrial hygiene to support the defense of asbestos and cosmetic talc matters. Her leadership keeps counsel, experts, and corporate stakeholders aligned on a cohesive defense that aims to endure aggressive discovery and Daubert scrutiny.

Expert Development and Trial Support

Lucy develops and prepares experts whose testimony sits at the intersection of medicine and causation. She translates technical literature into persuasive narratives, prepares witnesses for deposition and trial, and coordinates presentation strategy so that methodological foundations are clear to judges and juries. This work extends to nationwide asbestos and cosmetic talc dockets, where she partners with national, local and trial counsel to ensure consistent themes and precise examination outlines.

Briefing and Dispositive Motions

A skilled writer and strategist, Lucy has drafted dispositive and complex motions in state and federal courts across the country. Examples include briefing in Rockman v. Union Carbide Corp., 266 F. Supp. 3d 839 (D. Md. 2017), where her advocacy combined scientific nuance with procedural precision led to a successful result for the client. She regularly authors legal analyses that translate medical, epidemiologic and industrial hygiene evidence into clear arguments for summary judgment, exclusion, or other case-dispositive relief.
