Willcox Savage is pleased to announce that Neil L. Rose has been named among the 2025 ‘Virginia’s Go To Lawyers’ for Tax Law by Virginia Lawyers Weekly

Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s annual ‘Go To Lawyers’ lists honor top counsel across Virginia in specific practice areas. Nominees are evaluated based on a rigorous standard: subject-matter expertise, a successful track record, peer referrals, creative problem-solving, and state-wide recommendation credibility.

Tax and Estate Planning Attorney Neil L. Rose of Willcox and SavageNeil’s practice spans federal and state taxation, estate planning and administration, real estate, and corporate law. A former IRS and U.S. Treasury Special Honors Attorney, he brings decades of experience and frequently lectures on corporate and real estate tax, estate planning, elder law, pension tax, and LLC issues for organizations including the ABA and Virginia State Bar. His estate planning work includes sophisticated gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer planning; trust modifications; formation and counsel to charities; and guidance on complex real estate and business transactions.

When asked by Virginia Lawyers Weekly about what makes him a leader in his field, Neil commented: ‘‘I learned when I started practicing here in 1987 that Hampton Roads is collegial—the legends graciously accepted my calls and helped me. I have tried to give back by lecturing and helping new attorneys while volunteering where my skills are useful.’’

Neil has held many professional and civic leadership roles, including past chair positions within the Virginia Bar Association and Virginia State Bar tax/elder law sections, service on the Virginia Beach School Board (vice chair, 2001–2004), and current board memberships with regional foundations.
